Fanduel MLB Picks for Saturday September 20th Early Games
Friday night already has some huge scores as I write this post. If you picked David Ortiz, Dustin Ackley or Michael Cuddyer, then you probably had a good night.
The funny thing about fantasy is that there are always prime matchups available on a full slate. You just have to focus on them while conserving your salary cap to construct a solid yet high scoring team.
This is something we will dive into this weekend. More information on lineup construction to come soon.
Saturday September 20th 2014 Early Game Picks
This article will be shorter than Saturday night’s full feature MLB picks because it’s a smaller slate plus many of you are playing fantasy EPL, watching college football, and focusing on your NFL fantasy squads. There is so much going on that I’m going to keep this short and sweet.
Pitchers
Max Scherzer $10,600
Scherzer is the top pitcher on the early slate. He has an elite 10.41 K/9 away and will pitch to a Royals team that got embarassed the night before. He’s 1-0 in 3 starts in September and holds batters to a low .247 away BA.
Drew Pomeranz $6,300
Pomeranz is the GPP play on the early slate and gets to face a bad Philles team that struggles against LHP. He has a 9.69 k/9 at home and should breeze through this game. He’s holding hitters to a .189 BA at home but may only pitch for a few innings.
Catchers
Willin Rosario $3,400
The Rockies are scoring runs in bunches at home and all Rockies are in play. Rosario had 2 back to back 6+ FDP games, and if he’s in the lineup, then he’s safe play at catcher. He’s batting .476 with 10 RBIs over the last 7 days.
Other Plays: Victor Martinez, Michael McKenry (if Rosario sits)
1st Base
Justin Morneau $4,000
Morneau should bat 3rd and gets a favorable matchup against RHP Trevor Cahill. Cahill is allowing leftys to hit .337 and has a terrible 6.92 ERA in days games. All the left handed bats are in play so plug in Morneau. He’s batting .316 over the last 7 days.
Other Plays: Miguel Cabrera, Edwin Encarnacion
2nd Base
Justin Turner $3,800
Turner is the hottest Dodger bat on the team. He’s batting .667 over the last 7 days and gets a juicy matchup against a bad left handed pitcher.
Other Plays: Ian Kinsler, Dee Gordon, Rafael Ynoa
3rd Base
Juan Uribe $2,900
Another red hot Dodger is Juan Uribe. He’s batting .400 over the last 7 days and gets a favorable matchup against Doubront.
Other plays: 3rd base is extremely thin in the early slate. Try Luis Valbuena or Josh Donaldson
SS
Jose Reyes $3,100
Reyes went off Friday night for a 7 FDP game. I recommended him in my earlier article so if you played him, congrats. He’s batting .433 over the last 7 days and gets a great matchup against a LHP Yankees pitcher. Plug him in!
Other plays: Josh Rutledge, Haney Ramirez
Outfield
Michael Cuddyer $3,500
Cuddyer is the hottest hitter in the majors right now. He’s posted 2 10+ FDP games in a row and hits a ridiculous .340 BA in day games. Play him in every lineup and build around him because he’s on fire.
Charlie Blackmon $3,300
Blackmon is another Rockies outfielder with high upside potential. He’s more effective during the day and bats a whopping .363 in day games. Whenever the Rockies play during the game, get Blackmon in your lineups!
Jose Bautista $4,700
Bautista absolutely crushes left handed pitching so he is on the radar in the early slate. He homered last night against the Yankees and has a 1.070 OBP against LHP. Capuano doesn’t scare me, plus Bautista is 2nd in the MLB in OBP.
Other Plays: J.D. Martinez, Matt Kemp, Mark Trumbo, Jorge Soler, Yasiel Puig
