Juke’s Quick Take

Oh, Tony Parker and Ricky Rubio? I scored a combined 8 FDP for my point guards last night so I am looking to bounce back quite nicely tonight. We have a full 9 game slate with plenty of fireworks, including a massive late hammer game against two terrible defensive teams, Lakers and Pacers.

Of course, Kyle O’Quinn (KOQ) bounced back from his disaster performance and rewarded all of his owners with a 35+ FDP night. It goes to show you that role players play MUCH better at home than on the road. So I’ve started only playing All Stars on the road while using some nice cheap value plays at home instead. This is an important lesson that shows sports has an incredible mental aspect that fails to show up in our projections and analysis. Home court advantage gives a big boost to role players while the studs can get it done on any night.

My Favorite game targets are:

  • MIL vs ORL (Love Mario Hejonza as a cheap punt)
  • GS vs HOU (Very stackable game but beware because the 1st game went to overtime. Stats are a bit inflated)
  • IND vs LAL (Paul George and Clarkson. Very stackable game)
  • BRK vs NO (Stack the Pelicans)
  • CHI vs ATL (Love Jimmy Butler)

My Top 5 Picks of the Night

PG – Kemba Walker

His ownership last game was incredibly high, but faders were rewarded since Kemba didn’t provide a monster performance. He will be very low owned tonight with most people’s attention on the GS vs HOU game. Kemba has owned Kyle Lowry in his last 2 home matchups, going for 47 FDP last season and a whopping 61 FDP earlier this year. The Raptors are a good team so I expect Kemba to take a ton of shots and really give 100% in this one. Outside of Batum, there is nobody else to score. Plus, Batum should be pretty tired from chasing Derozan around. This makes Kemba an elite play and a nice pivot from Curry, Lillard and Lowry.

SG – Mario Hezonja

Mario who? I think tonight is Mario’s coming out party in a nice matchup going against the Bucks. He won’t see much Giannis in this matchup (Aaron Gordon & Jeff Green should matchup with Greek Freek), plus the Magic backcourt is super thin right now. Evan Fournier, Jodie Meeks and CJ Watson are all OUT. This leaves NOBODY else to play those SG minutes except Hezonja. He also had a monster performance last season at home against the bucks and put up 41 FDP in 39 minutes. He is too cheap to pass up and helps you get some serious studs in your lineup (Harden, Jimmy Butler, Paul George and Draymond Green).

SF – Paul George

With all the ownership on Kevin Durant, I want to be contrarian and focus my attention on Paul George in a dream matchup against the Lakers. He put up 30 points earlier this season and has increased his FP output each game over the last 4 games against the lakers on the road (24 FDP, 27 FDP, 31 FDP, 47 FDP). I cannot remember the last time Paul George was under 7.5k on FD (More expensive on DK). The Lakers’ defense is terrible and they recently allowed Will Barton to carve them up nicely. I will take PG13’s low ownership and reciency bias in a crystal clear matchup.

PF – Draymond Green

We’ve seen the Houston Rockets struggle to defend the PF position over the last 2 seasons. They are ranked 29th in DVP against PFs so expect a big game from Green. Draymond has reached the 50+ FDP mark in his last two matchups, including a whopping 55 FDP in his last trip to Houston. The Rockets beat the Warriors at home and Draymond gave it his all and rewarded us with a triple double in his efforts. This game will be a track meet and is perfect for Draymond’s style of play. He should rack up plenty of rebounds and assists in this one.

C – Brook Lopez

He’s boring to watch, but you cannot deny his consistency. He has 5 straight 20+ point games and gets a dream matchup against a much thinner Anthony Davis. Lopez went off last season against the Pelicans in New Orleans and dropped 59 Fanduel points. AD is banged up, so I expect Brook Lopez to have his way with him. He is safe for cash games but also has GPP upside.
