Fanduel & Draftkings NBA DFS Lineup Picks – January 17th 2017
Introducing your Fanduel & DraftKings NBA DFS Lineup Picks for GPP & Cash Games for January 17th, 2017.
Juke’s Quick Take
Yesterday was a huge letdown for me since I got stuck with 3 (yes, 3!) DNP on my lineups: Dwight Howard, Nerlens Noel and Tyson Chandler. I got stuck with a big fat zero on every slate yesterday, so now I am obsessed with checking ALL NEWS before lock.
The best 2 ways to check news are: Basketball Monster Status Updates and Rotoworld. However, if you are just getting home from work or always busy around 7pm EST, then download the Rotogrinders APP to receive instant alerts sent to your smartphone. This will save you money and the embarrassment of putting together a solid lineup only to have it ruined with a DNP.
Tonight’s slate has some wonderful matchups for DFS production. My favorite games to target are:
- TOR vs BKN
- HOU vs MIA
- DEN vs LAL
Please check out all news before lock to make sure your players are active.
Key Inactives Tonight
Ryan Anderson is OUT – This bumps up James Harden, Clint Capela, and Eric Gordon
Gary Harris is OUT – This bumps up Emmanuel Mundiay, Jameer Nelson and Will Barton
Check Basketball Monster for updates before 7:30pm EST lock.
My Top 5 Picks of the Night
PG – Kyle Lowry
The All star Guard will have the ball in his hands a ton in the best possible matchup on the slate versus the lowly Brooklyn Nets. The raptors scored 132 points in the last meeting, but Lowry always performs better on the road. Coming into NYC, I expect him to show out and have a huge game. Demar Derozan is too expensive since both Fanduel & DraftKing increased his price following last week’s monster performances. I want exposure to this backcourt and Lowry is the cheapest. I also like Corey Joseph, especially on DraftKings.
SG – Will Barton
Gary Harris is dealing with a groin issue, so this is an excellent spot for Will Barton. In yesterday’s game, Jameer Nelson started the second half for Gary Harris but I expect Barton to grab the start coming off a b2b. He is only 26 years old and had a monster game in his last appearance at Staples Center going for 41 FDP in only 31 minutes against a very good Clippers defense.People will be scared off of him, but I need as much exposure to the Nuggets who have won 6 straight games at Staples center against the struggling Lakers. He’s risky, but if he goes off, he can really push you up the GPP leaderboard in a hurry.
SF – Kawhi Leonard
SF is ugly and I plan to spend up a lot at the position. Kawhi has 3 straight 30+ point games and has the best matchup against this young, athletic Minnesota T’wolves squad. He went for 41 FDP in this season’s earlier matchup and is a super safe play on a slate with not so great SF options.
PF – Kenneth Faried
Faried is back! After dealing with some back soreness, Kenneth Faried has posted 2 monster performances in a row and adds lots of energy to this Nuggets frontcourt. He is a perfect fit for Nikola Jokic and gets lots of easy dunks from crafty Jokic passes. The Lakers cannot stop anybody right now and have fallen apart defensively. I love the Nuggets stack tonight and will have A LOT of exposure to them. Faried is too cheap right now, and without Darrell Arthur, he should see a ton of minutes tonight.
C –Jonas Valanciunas
Jonas is coming off 3 straight double doubles and gets a juicy matchup against one of the worst rebounding teams in the league, Brooklyn. Brooklyn plays at a super fast pace so he has the opportunity to get a lot of easy rebounds. He has scored at least 28 FDP in his last two matchups against Brooklyn and only needs around 5x to pay off his salary.
