Fanduel & DraftKings NBA DFS Lineup Picks – January 18th 2017
Introducing your Fanduel & DraftKings NBA DFS Lineup Picks for GPP & Cash Games for January 18th, 2017.
Juke’s Quick Take
I hope everybody caught wind of the Lowry news and swapped him out of your lineups for Cory Joseph. I mentioned Cory Joseph as a great play on DraftKings, but he became a must play when Lowry was announced OUT 15 minutes before lock.
If you didn’t catch the news, be sure to follow RotoJuke on Twitter as I will constantly retweet important news right up until lock.
I ended up with a season high score of 366 last night thanks to Cory Joseph and Derozan. My biggest let down was D’angelo Russell, and I should have pivoted to Ricky Rubio who is a double double machine. It’s really important to track player minutes as well as minutes played in the 4th quarter. You can do this on NBA.com Stats -> Player Stats -> Advanced (4th Quarter). Ideally, we want players who close the game because they pick up extra fantasy points and help move us up the leaderboard.
Tonight’s slate is a massive 9 game slate so I will be cutting back my play tonight due to high variance. It’s one of those nights where if you miss 1 or 2 two players that go off, you can’t have a big cash.
Favorite Games to Target
- BOS vs NY
- ORL vs NO
- CHA vs POR
- OKC vs GS
- TOR vs PHI
- SAC vs IND

Key Inactives Tonight
Ryan Anderson is OUT – This bumps up James Harden, Trevor Ariza, and Sam Dekker
There are LOTS of questionable players tonight so I will update this article closer to lock.
Check Basketball Monster for updates before 7:00pm EST lock.
My Top 5 Picks of the Night
PG – Isaiah Thomas
IT2 averaging 31 points at home? Versus the Knicks? Sign me up! Isaiah Thomas gets one of the best matchups possible going against a Knicks team that has given up HUGE games to guards. James Harden put up 89 FDP against them and even Dennis Schroder had a big night recently. His price tag is up, but he continues to produce at a high rate and nobody has stopped him yet.
SG – James Harden
He’s coming off another triple double in a shocking loss to the lowly Miami heat. It’s a b2b, but this is also an ESPN game and James Harden is averaging 28.5 pts on b2bs. The Rockets are shorthanded so I expect a similar performance from Harden. Other than Giannis & Batum, I think SG is an ugly position that I want to pay up for. Everybody will have Batum (solid play), but I will be a big different and pick Harden at home.
SF – Kevin Durant
I was off Durant until Klay Thompson was considered questionable for tonight’s game. If Klay Thompson sits, then Durant is a must play across the board. He put up 39 pts against his former team and will pick up most of the scoring without Klay in the lineup. He has a solid far and I want to lock in those points on a slate without guys like Lebron, Kawhi or Jimmy Butler.
PF – Marvin Williams
I want some exposure to this POR vs CHA game because Portland is absolutely terrible at defense and allowed the Wizards to score 70 pts at halftime. They are at the bottom of the league in defensive efficiency and pts allowed (110 per game). The entire starting lineup is in play but my favorite cheap play is Marvin Williams. He scored 20+ pts last game and showed his athleticism with a highlight reel dunk against the Celtics. He also scored 21 pts in last year’s matchup. Portland struggles against the PF and if Williams plays 30 minutes, he should make value.
C – Kyle O’Quinn
I will be choosing my centers from this game because both teams struggle with big men. If Joakim Noah sits, I am going all in on Kyle O’quinn. He is a fantasy point per minute beast and can put up a big stat line in a hurry. The Knicks need more youth in their lineup and Q’quinn should have his way with this undersized Boston frontcourt. If Joakim Noah plays, then I am pivoting to Kelly Olynyk as another cheap C option.
