Pitchers

Danny Salazar (6-7, 4.22 ERA) $7,800

Carlos Carrasco completely dominated the Astros last night with a CG shutout and 12 SO. Salazar is another RHP with elite strikeout potential because he has an away K/9 of 10.17. Although he’s been roughed up in his last 2 starts, they were against Detroit and Los Angeles, probably the top 2 hitting teams in the majors. he has a 1.50 ERA against the Astros while holding batters to a .150 BA.

Gerrit Cole (9-5, 3.92 ERA) $8,200

The NL’s 2013 September rookie of the month has posted back-to-back quality starts while striking out 14 to win both times. The Pirates put up 9 runs last night so he should get plenty of run support. He has a nice K/9 of 8.47 at home while holding batters to a .224 BA. He’s just around $8k which will free up some space to put some stud hitters in your lineup.

Other Plays: Sonny Gray, Jered Weaver

Catcher

Highest scoring catcher over last 7 days: Yan Gomes

Yan Gomes $3,300

He’s the highest scoring catcher over the last 7 and just hit 2 2B in yesterday’s matchup. He’s batting .321 over the last 7 days with 2 HR and 7 RBIs. Continue to ride his hot bat while you can.

Russell Martin $3,900

The Pirates went off for 9 runs but Martin only had an underperforming night. I think he gets back on track big against an awful pitcher, Brandon Workman.

Other Plays: Mike Mckenry

1st Base

Highest scoring 1B over last 7 days: Carlos Santana

Ike Davis $2,200

Davis homered last night and is batting in the middle of the order gong against another big RHP tonight. The Pirates are huge favorites to win this game and I think Davis is in play if you need a cheaper 1B.

Justin Morneau $3,400

Morneau went crazy yesterday with a HR and 6 RBIs at Coors Field. While I don’t like the lefty vs lefty matchup, I cannot pass up on a power hitter at Coors Field. He’s batting .429 over the last 7 days with 1 HR and 7 RBIs. The Coors game has the highest vegas total so expect some runs here.

Other Plays: Tommy Medica, Anthony Rizzo, Carlos Santana

2nd Base

Highest scoring 2B over last 7 days: Neil Walker

Neil Walker $3,700

I recommended Walker in yesterday’s article and he homered last night. Tonight, he’s in another good matchup against a bad RHP. He’s batting .455 with 2 HR and 6 RBIs over the last 7 days. Plug in Walker at 2B and build around him.

Other Plays: Robinson Cano, Jose Altuve

3rd Base

Highest scoring 3B over last 7 days: David Freese

Juan Uribe $3,900

The 35 year old slugger is proving he still has pop in his bat. He’s batting .381 with a HR over the last 7 days and sits around 6th or 7th in a powerful Dodgers lineup. He’s one of the cheaper Dodgers if you want to go with a cheap stack.

David Freese $2,800

Continue riding the hot Angels bats until they cool off. Freese is batting .304 with 2 HR and 7RBIs over the last 7 days. He’s going against Felix Hernadez, but the Angels are red hot and Freese is a nice contratrian play.

Other Plays: Luis Valbena, Yangervis Solarte

SS

Highest scoring SS over last 7 days: Chris Owings

Josh Rutledge $2,600

Coors game? Count me in. Rutledge is batting .300 with a 3B over the last 7 days. He gets a mediocre LHP tonight at Coors field where the Rockies should put up some runs.

Adeiny Hechavarria $2,400

This guy is one of my favorite plays when he’s at home because he is speedy and hits a lot of triples. While the matchup isn’t great, Gio Gonzalez can get blown up at times. Marlins hit much better at home and he’s a cheap SS punt to help you load up on other positions.

Other Plays: Hanley Ramirez (if he plays), Jhonny Peralta (Caution: he’s in a bit of a slump)

Outfield

Highest scoring OF over last 7 days: Mike Trout & Michael Brantley

Michael Brantley $4,100

Brantley crushes right handed pitching with a .339 BA against LHP. He’s on a tear right now, hitting .467 with 5 RBIs over his last 7 games. He should be underowned and could help you take down a GPP tonight.

Drew Stubbs $3,800

The Rockies go against a LHP tonight at Coors field so fire up Stubbs. He’s batting .400 over the last 7 days and should bat in the top of the order.

Josh Harrison $3,600

I like all of the Pirates outfielders here but Harrison looks like he is the safest play. He was part of the winning MLB Squeeze lineup yesterday on Fanduel and is cheaper than Andrew Mccutchen and Starling Marte. All 3 are in play but Harrison will save you a few hundred bucks in salary if you need it somewhere else. He’s batting .321 over the last 7 days and leads off for the Pirates. He should see plenty of ABs and has more 2B than any other player post All Star break.

Other Plays: Starling Marte, Andrew Mccutchen, Matt Kemp, Mark Trumbo, Matt Holiday, Yasiel Puig

Top Stacks
