NFL DFS Week 2: Fanduel Picks for GPPs and Cash Games

Welcome to my first Fanduel NFL week 2 picks article! I hope everyone had a good summer and I’m happy to write more strategy articles for you guys. Be sure to check out our newly updated Fanduel NFL DFS strategy guide for this season.

In Week 1, we saw a lot of 2nd year players explode in production due to their new roles in the offense. A bunch of rookies made a splash as well so expect the masses to spread the ownership across a wide range of players.

Even though I made a few mistakes, I achieved 88 percent ROI on my entry fees and finished ITM in the Sunday Million. I use Rototracker to track my DFS bankroll.

Should you chase last week’s performance or play some guys who could have a bounce back game in week 2?

I’ll be listing my favorite plays for week 2 on Fanduel in cash games and GPPs.

QB

Marcus Mariota $7,400

In week 1, both Lamar Jackson and Dak Prescott paid off with big games within the $7,400 range. This week, I think Mariota is at an attractive price plus should play well against a Colts defense that allowed 25 FDP to Philipp Rivers. The Titans put up 40+ points on the road against a highly touted Browns defense. Right now, I want to ride this offense as long as the players are relatively cheap. Stacking Mariota with TE Delanie Walker ($5900) or WR A.J. Brown ($5400).

Other Plays: Tom Brady (Cash), Deshaun Watson (GPP), Lamar Jackson (Cash), Patrick Mahomes (GPP), Derek Carr (GPP)

RB

Derrick Henry $7500

He carried the ball 19 times in Week 1 and could exceed this number as the Titans try to run out the clock at home. He also received 4 red zone rushing attempts and took a screen pass 75 yards for a TD. Get him in your lineups while his price is under $8k.

Josh Jacobs $6400

The rookie RB is an absolute stud and had a whopping 8 red zone rushes in week 1. This game has a high vegas total and I think he’s too cheap for his critical role in the offense. The game script isn’t great but he’s a very solid player at a good price.

Other Picks: Mark Ingram (Cash), Adrian Peterson (GPP)

WR

Sammy Watkins $7,400

He’s currently leading the NFL in TDs (3) and receiving yards (( plus he gets a massive boost in targets due to Tyreke Hill’s injury. The Chiefs offense is still very explosive without Hill and he’s my top overall WR on the slate. Oakland got gashed by both Courtland Sutton and Emmanuel Sanders in Week 2. You can even stack Sammy Watkins and Mecole Hardman in tournaments for some GPP winnings upside.

Antonio Brown $7,800

He makes his Patriots’ debut against a Miami Defense that Lamar Jackson tore apart with ease. We are not exactly sure how many targets he will steal away from Julian Edelmann and Josh Gordon but Brown has the ability to put up video game numbers against this weak Miami Defense.

Tyrell Williams $5,900

The Raiders’ looked good on Week 1 and Williams used his 6’4 frame to dominate opposing CBs. This is a high ceiling matchup for him going against the high flying Chiefs who score a ton of points. This is a game where Oakland will probably be trailing early and forced to throw a ton to keep up. He’s the clear number 1 receiver and should eat against a Chiefs’ secondary who gave up 53 FDP to opposing WRs in week 1.

Other Picks: Marquise Brown (GPP), A.J. Brown (GPP), Will Fuller (Cash)

TE

Evan Engram $6,400

I pivoted to Engram last week in some GPPs and it paid off nicely. He is still expensive but has such a huge market share that could increase if Sterling Sheperd sits in Week 2. He looked lean and explosive in his Week 1 debut. He’s a safe play for cash games yet also has GPP winning upside.

Other Picks: Delanie Walker (Cash), TJ Hockenson (GPP), Mark Andrews (GPP)

FLEX

Alvin Kamara $8,700

There are enough value options to pick up at RB and I love Alvin Kamara in this matchup. The Rams really struggle against dynamic RBs and gave up 37 FDP to Christian McCaffrey in Week 1. Kamara put up a solid fantasy line but didn’t reach the endzone. That should change in Week 2 since the Rams allow 44 FDP to Rbs.

DEF

Titans DEF $4,600

I want to pair my DEF with my running back because it’s positively correlated in GPPs. Derrick Henry + Titans defense is one of my favorite stacks of the week.

Other Picks: Ravens (Cash), Patriots (GPP), Packers (GPP), 49ers (GPP)
